Ideal government
I was checking TED talks and surprisingly found a section where conversations are allowed in the form of forums. Some participants give their ideas about certain topic or question and the opinion of many is registered in the forum. Discussions are broad and varied, but a striking and perhaps exciting one was: How your perfect government should look like?
I must say my expectations were high on this one, and considering TED viewers background, probably I would find a plethora of interesting opinions full of insight and inspiration in simple practices that build up a government. Because its what I think a government is, simple singular universal actions that help people. Sadly I found quite the opposite, and more importantly I found two main tendencies. i) to rethink what has been done for years, written in a single paragraph (re making the mistakes) and ii) to get lost into bureauocratic details about elections processes. And people was forgotten again by the same people.
And is this great ability of humans to forget ourselves for an instance, when power comes to the topic. to forget from where we come from, and what we really need to live happily. These two are very strong philosophical discussions in the realms of Ethics. But why do we forget about ourselves and get entangled in ridiculous things like "elections" curriculum vita, coinage, borders, markets, and allowances to belong or not to belong to some political, or geopolitical creed? are these the necessary elements to forge happiness and bring dynamic equilibrium to our societies? Not really.
All this details are not essential for a balanced government. The government is inside of us, every single day, while studying, working proactively to improve and persevere not for the sake of money but for the sake of balancing and solving problems. They don't have to be global warming problems nor immense political conflicts. These problems are day by day problems that echo into our society. but what kind of problems? one might ask. And another may argue, I kind of solve many of my problems on a daily basis so its fine. I mean problems that affect all of us on a daily basis.
My vision of how a government should look like, start considering our interaction with what we eat and what we drink, then knowing about your physiology in other words, learn to govern your own body first. Then transmit that knowledge to your family and share it with friends in a non impositive fashion but inquiring into open conversations. Learn to govern your feelings and learn to get to the main idea and understand what surrounds you. Pay particular attention not to illustrate yourself too much but to observe, taste, listen, smell and think about. Converse about it and govern your writing, remain sensitive to the environment, listen to it and govern it fairly, everyone knows what excess is and when decay starts.
Now learn to talk and govern your speech, one day you might be in charge of representing others and be prepared to it. I is a big responsibility but also great honor. Use all your governances learnt before to represent and be fair. Keep yourself away from personal appreciations or sweet capricious ideals, observe, listen, ponder, keep your mind open. Your idea might lead you to a bigger common purpose not by keeping it, but by transforming it through the governance of your emotions. Again use the power of governance already acquired to be assertive.
The ideal government start with universal thinking, and this does not necessarily means globalized thinking. Universal is philosophical and inherent: essential to reach balance. Globalized can be anything you could trade including and more often garbage.
Government starts in you.
