Fragility and the Mole of Steel

Small, fragile, delicate, sensitive, inspiring, beautiful, harmonic, innocent, courageous, natural are aspects of life that have passed to the man's world of ideas, as synonyms of weakness and undesirable aspects of life. These small group of characteristics have become instruments instead of the goal or the very essence of the global purpose of exchange, the world of profitable symbols of manipulation and control.

Instead, big, hard, robust, insensitive, simple, sexy, strident, tricky, powerful and synthetic are non essential attributes used for the replacement of the characteristics explained before. The new order of attributes used as semantic objects of identity, are used in our society for the sake of becoming a Mole of Steel. The dream of every modern human to be imperturbable in its own cage of homogeneity. A Mole of Steel represents the need to be simple and heavy in order to perform a simple task.

Like our evolutionary symbionths, the computers. We have adopted several strategies to live with them assuming their simple and mechanistic behaviors, following their semantics, their way of communication, changing our language for a shorter one, filtering "noise" in our communication, standardizing our words, creating synthetic protocols of communication as the world is being dominated by their structured logic and restrained freedom. A transition of values from the most organic to a most rigid, stable, homogeneous and standardized system of values has become a need. To isolate and control the implicit chaos that human population numbers have brought with it during the last centuries.

But is the Mole of Steel the panacea of strength and power it promises to be? There are many answers to this question and most likely it is an irrelevant question anyways for the reader who finds identified with it, because post twentieth century society, does not expect anything from self generated ideas more than a technological advance or application, a synthetic construct.  Modern society seeks for no philosophical answers, it seeks for what I call, short range answers through circumstantial questionings.

Let me make this statement clear comparing two types of societies: a small community versus a big population.

In a small community, individual roles obey to the spontaneous unskilled individual capacity to create solutions. Implying the creation of a method of general thinking, to solve community problems. Its aim is to gain expertise and wisdom, to think for the survival of its community and itself. Its questioning is circumstantial  it depends on the day by day but, is also prospective and have to be deep enough in terms of a schema to solve due the complexity of the problems she or he faces. Just like bringing water from afar or inventing water channels and irrigation systems for the crops, constructing calendars to predict the seasons etc. All these questions brings the individual's mind to think further its own experienced existence as life, death, true love, values, its fragility, its beauty, courage, nobility, inspiration, the harmony of the world that surrounds it and its interdependency. This individual generates big questions, and expects that its contribution to the community gives some big answers irrespective of the system of thought applied. They are visionaries by nature, or what I call the human wild type.

In a big population, roles have become fixed and protocolary. Individuals are part of the system, and their creative capacity represents value, but the creative process is expensive noise that has to be cut into practical and straight forward applications following the given rules. Individuals are born to get money and achieve their economical and free thinking autonomy and certain power to find themselves free to live with themselves. Individuals does not expect more than a proportional and efficient function of money versus the amount of work they do, their roles are more for themselves in their private life, rather than for the community. They are apolitical in most of the cases since voting population is minimal in most societies and philosophy becomes useless due its time consuming and often practically inconclusive and hard to apply nature. This individual generates net consumption, and expects no big answers. They are executioners.

But the fact of not seeking for philosophical answers is the achilles heel of the Mole of Steel. It remains undeformed and static, not evolving not moving, just steady on its dynamics and useless. Consuming energy driven by blind obedience. However is a requirement for the sake of its steadiness on its self created environment.

Instead, the visionary path is aimed to be slow on its actions, saving every resource to expand creativity more than execution and execute through solid inspiration and insight. Due its nature, it is always trying to  find the reason for its happiness, existence, love, fragility, delicate, sensitivity, inspiration, beauty, harmony, innocence, courage and nature. Its virtuous in essence.
